In high volume logistics, efficiency is important, but safety is non negotiable. At Emons Cargo 2WIN, safety is not treated as a checklist or a formality. It is embedded in every movement, every maneuver, and every delivery.
Our 2WIN trailers are designed to move more cargo in fewer trips. With innovation comes responsibility. That responsibility is reflected in the way our drivers are trained and in the strict safety procedures followed at every customer location. Safety is not an afterthought. It is part of daily operations.
This article explains how safety is organised within our 2WIN trailer operations and why it is essential for our drivers, our customers, and everyone working around our vehicles.
Personal Protective Equipment as the First Line of Safety
Before any work begins, the basics must be right. Every Emons Cargo 2WIN driver is required to wear the prescribed personal protective equipment before entering a customer site or starting any operation.
This includes reflective high visibility clothing and certified safety shoes. Proper protective equipment ensures visibility, protection, and compliance with site rules. It also creates a clear and professional standard from the moment our driver arrives on location.
Respecting Site Rules at All Times
Every customer site is different and every location has its own safety regulations. Our drivers are trained to actively familiarise themselves with local site rules before starting any activity.
This means following all signage and instructions, using designated pedestrian routes, and remaining alert to moving vehicles, structures, and people. Extra attention is required when approaching loading bays, especially in environments with limited space or overhead obstacles. Anticipation and awareness are key to preventing incidents.
Maneuvering and Reversing a 2WIN Trailer
A 2WIN trailer behaves differently compared to a standard trailer. Its dimensions and configuration require additional focus, particularly in busy yards or confined areas.
Our drivers are trained to maintain maximum visual control of their surroundings, pay special attention to pedestrians, vehicles, and fixed objects, and communicate clearly with on site personnel whenever necessary. If a situation cannot be secured safely, the operation is stopped and the fleet manager is informed. Safety always takes priority over speed or convenience.
Safe Use of the Tail Lift
The tail lift is a powerful piece of equipment that must be handled with discipline. When opening the tail lift, the remote control is taken from the side control unit and the driver positions themselves in a safe location with clear visibility of the work area.
Before operating the lift, the surroundings are checked for obstructions or people. Once the tail lift is fully opened, the side railings are set up immediately and the safety flap remains closed during use at all times. Standing or walking underneath the tail lift is strictly forbidden.
During operation, drivers are instructed to maintain three points of contact to reduce the risk of slipping or falling. Clear danger zones are defined and correct operator positioning is mandatory throughout the entire process.

Docking and Preparation for Unloading
Before unloading begins, a fixed sequence is followed. The engine is switched off, the handbrake is applied, and the vehicle keys are handed to the dock staff.
Docking is only completed once the tail lift is set to the correct height and the safety flap is opened correctly. After docking, drivers access the ramp via the warehouse entrance and never by walking underneath the trailer door. This controlled process ensures stability, visibility, and coordination with warehouse personnel.
Working Safely with Electric Pallet Trucks
Electric pallet trucks play an important role in 2WIN operations, but they require constant awareness. Many incidents occur due to distraction or incorrect positioning, which is why prevention is central to our training.
Drivers are instructed to stay behind the pallet truck at all times, keep the equipment in front while maneuvering, and use slow movement modes when handling heavy cargo or operating in tight spaces. Awareness of pedestrians, structures, and moving equipment remains essential throughout the operation. Unsafe situations observed on site must always be reported immediately.

Loading, Unloading, and Securing the Load
During loading and unloading, the safety flap must remain closed while the tail lift is in use. Operators stay within designated safe areas and maintain full control of the process.
Once loading is complete, the cargo is secured using load bars. If the trailer is empty after unloading, the electric pallet truck itself is secured before departure. Proper load securing protects the driver, the cargo, and all other road users.
Closing the Tail Lift and Final Checks
Closing the tail lift requires the same level of attention as opening it. Drivers stand in a safe position, avoid the danger zone between the platform and the trailer, and maintain clear visibility during closing.
Any safety concerns identified at this stage must be reported before the vehicle is moved. A final visual check ensures that everything is secured and ready for transport.
Safety as a Daily Responsibility
At Emons Cargo 2WIN, safety is not just documented, it is lived. Drivers are encouraged to stop operations, raise concerns, and involve management whenever something does not feel right.
This approach protects our drivers, customer staff, cargo integrity, and long term partnerships. In logistics, trust is built not only on performance, but on responsibility.
